Data Deletion
How to remove your DecibelView data from your device.
What data is stored
DecibelView stores the following data locally on your device:
- Saved decibel readings
- Optional notes you add to readings
- Timestamps for saved readings
- Preference flags such as your acceptance of Terms and Privacy Policy
No accounts or cloud backups are created by the app. When you delete the app’s local data, we cannot recover it.
Delete data from inside the app
Use this method if you still have the app installed and simply want to clear your noise logs and preferences.
- Open the DecibelView app.
- Open the side menu (drawer) and go to Settings.
- Scroll to the data section.
- Tap Clear data (or similar option).
- Confirm when prompted to remove all saved readings and related data.
Delete data by uninstalling the app
Uninstalling DecibelView removes all app data from your device storage. Steps may vary slightly by device:
On Android
- Tap and hold the DecibelView icon on your home screen or app drawer.
- Select Uninstall, or drag it to the Uninstall area.
- Confirm when asked to remove the app.
Alternatively, you can go to Settings → Apps → DecibelView and choose Uninstall, and optionally use Storage & cache → Clear storage beforehand.
On iOS (if available)
- Tap and hold the DecibelView icon on your home screen.
- Choose Remove App, then select Delete App.
- Confirm to delete the app and its data.
Ad‑related data
Ads in DecibelView are provided through Google AdMob. Ad‑related identifiers are managed by your device and Google account, not stored directly by the app. To reset or limit ad personalization:
- On Android, go to Settings → Privacy → Ads (path may differ by device).
- On iOS, go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Refer to Google’s ads help page for additional options.
